For two months now she has been sitting, sitting, sitting. Through rain and storms, through cold and heat. Sometimes the water covers all the grass, everything but her nest.

    Yes, the mate isaround. Would be very surprised if there nest sharing is equal. Seems about 7/8ths her. You must be reading one of those PC modern nature books.

      But really we have no way of knowing, as they are pretty much identical. They could be switching off. And often they’re there together, working on the nest.

    Have you seen a mate? I read that males sit equally with females on the nests, normally, and help build. You should have some ugly ducklings to observe, soon!
